If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Travelin' Fools

It's that time of year-the New Year. All of our friends have gone to their home towns, and our campus looks like a ghost town. So my friend, Heidi, invited Scott and I to come to her hometown for a day. It was only a 45 minute bus ride.
Here is Scott walking on one of the many dirt roads that wind throughout the city.
We also visited a garden with some statues that honor Asia's great philosophers.

The tree behind us is 300 years old!

In the center of the city is a huge square with monuments and a fountain- there were pigeons everywhere, so we had a little fun.

Here is Scott standing in front of a monument with lots of writing on it. We could read about 10 of the characters! We are ROCKING that language study.
This is the best part!! We took a walk around a lake, and at the far end was this fountain... what's really funny is it turned on when we got there, but off again as soon as we left.. My friends said they turned it on just for the Americans! I think it goes without saying that this city is beatiful. Look at that bridge in the background. I think it's strange that it is only half as big as our city, but far more 'westernized'. Walking around I felt like I was in a nice European city, not a tiny city in the middle of the mountains.
My favorite shot! It was so hard to time it just right, because the water shot up in time with the music that was playing- so to get one where the water is shooting up and we're all in the air was quite hard... good job, Scott!
These are my friends, left to right. Heidi, Me, Lisa and Autumn is taking a picture.
