If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Broccoli: Hate it or love it?

Joelle's first bite of broccoli- steamed and mashed.

That's some funky green stuff, mom.

Ugh- it's even worse going down!

Oh, actually. It's not so bad! One more bite, please.

Dog wants some, too.

Hey, now, dog. Whatchu doin?

Back away from the broccoli!

I'd say she loves it.

Ok, I have to be honest.  Joelle wasn't reaching out to push the dog away, she wanted to touch her.  But that's how it looks in the pictures, so I thought I'd run with it.

I'm excited about the introduction of broccoli because it is a fantastically healthy food.   It is a great source of iron, it has 2x more calcium than oranges, has lots of calcium that is easier absorbed than calcium from milk, is a great source of anti-oxidants and recently has become more and more famous for being an anti-cancer agent.

Put THAT in your pot and steam it!

One of my favorite ways to prepare broccoli is to use it instead of green beans in a green bean casserole. Try it now, thank my later! (steam it tender first)

Wouldn't that make it a brocolli casserole instead of a green bean casserole? :)
