If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Movin' on Up

I can't BELIEVE it's been almost a month since my last post! We've been busy moving, but we're almost done. Here are some before and after pictures of the living room!

Our first order of business was cleaning. When that un-fun part was over, we had fun picking out our paint color.Look at that scruffy man! He's patching up the wall with plaster. As we painted, we found huge pockets of air that when pushed, caused huge portions of the wall to come down.We painted the whole thing, stepped back... and decided we didn't like the dark color. We mixed it with a lot of cream and came up with a beautiful color. Below you can see the dark being over-painted with the lighter color....
Below I'm sanding a chest that we'll use to store our linnens. We are so blessed with the furniture we found. We took a lot of time looking for furniture both easy on the wallet and on the eyes.... none were to be found. All the furniture shops cary very Asian looking furniture- uncomfortable and verrrry gaudy. (fur-lined, lots of scroll work)We took a trip to our neighboring city where we found a wood working shop opporated by the deaf and disabled. They have a testimonial about how this wood workshop rescued many disabled from turning to gangs, or stealing, since they weren't able to get any other job.
So, with that touching story and the excellent craftsmanship and reasonable prices, we ordered several peices. They can make just about anything, so Scott and I sketched out our dream furniture and they carved every detail just as we described!
In that same city, we also found a tiny furniture shop that has western looking sofas! We ordered these two sofas. Our dark blue one is a courderoy fabric! mm good for napping.
The only thing I would change is our book shelves--- we unknowingly made them very deep! They're great for storage, but I can't figure out a great way to decorate/ organize! Help me, Mom!

The decorations are a little bare for now, but we'll collect pretty things here and there to put on the walls and such.

We found this cute "No Smoking" sign in Hong Kong. We need to get it written in our local language!

We really like our new home!!
