I must ask every one for forgiveness. We give you a hard time about reminding us of all the things we can't have- pool parties, cook-outs, theme parks, Chick-Fil-A, Applebees, etc etc etc.... and it's true, we sorely miss those wonderful American luxuries. But I'm afraid we've also been insensitive to all you back home... you see... it's YOU who's missing out.
Here are some pictures from our bike ride the other day:
The new campus being built.Nice trail beside a river
Friendly sheep and cows
An old asian house that I want to restore and use for our future business, "Rocky's Cafe" haha
An old man telling Scott about everything under the sun
For instance, yesterday we drove into the country side with our friends and spent the whole day playing cards, fishing and lounging in a cabin reading books.
The day before that, we rode our new bikes through some one's farm and found a huge lake with wonderful dirt paths through acres and acres of corn stalks and apple trees. After we were sufficiently sunburned, we biked to the city's new rec center to check out the bowling lanes and tennis courts.
The day before that, we woke up early and played tennis for an hour, and then went to our teachers' house and made delicious pork dumplings, and then went to our school's south campus to play tennis again and throw the Frisbee. I went to the salon to get a $1.50 hair wash and scalp massage, and then came home and baked some yummy chicken breasts and vegetables for dinner. Then we watched "17 Again" while munching on sweet plums that we bought for 50 cents.
Today we're meeting friends for dinner and studying, and tomorrow we'll probably put on our bathing suits and take some potato salad and chicken fingers out to the lake and play all day.
Next month, we're celebrating 3 years of marriage in beautiful, exotic THAILAND. Our itinerary? Paragon Shopping Mall, Siam Fishing Tours, horseback riding on the beach, a round of golf, and as much Mango Sticky Rice as we can handle.
By the way, after paying our dues on campus housing with a toilet that doesn't flush, we now are sitting in the lap of luxury with our huge bathtub, nice TV, espresso machine and hand crafted Asian furniture.... all which we can afford because the cost of living is so low, averaging about $2 a meal.
So I profusely apologize! I just forget that you all have to go to work every day and pay more than $90 a month for rent and have to go to normal American beaches for vacation. What can I do to make it up to you? Can I treat you to a cup of coffee tomorrow? oh wait... you all have to work.
HAHAHA

... all kidding aside, we truly love our city and feel so blessed to live here, even though there are still a lot of things we miss. You should know - even though we have such a beautiful home and relaxed life as students, we still miss our friends and family very much.
