*just a note* sometimes I'm a little late on posting the weekly updates, but I begin each new week on Monday!*
How your baby's growing:
Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head- which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.
How your life's changing:
This is the last week of your first trimester, and your risk of miscarriage is now much lower than earlier in pregnancy. Next week marks the beginning of your second trimester, a time of relative comfort for many women who see early pregnancy symptoms such as morning sickness and fatigue subside. -babycenter.com
From other sources I've read that my womb has grown from the size of a pear to the size of a small melon- and my little bump is no longer 'now you see it, now you don't.' Yesterday I wore one of my favorite knit tops and I smiled every time I had to shimmy it back down over my belly. My friends were all commenting on how obvious it was that I was pregnant!! It's been three days like this and the belly hasn't fluctuated- so I guess I've popped ever so slightly- I am LOVING it!
When Howard and Debbie were here I thought that I had started to show- but I soon realized that the bump was from the miserable gas and constipation I was having ( a symptom that has subsided a little now YAY!)
I'm really emotional. When I read Jason and Shanna's blog I cry almost every time- even if it's just about fun things that the kids said (like putting spicy cheetos in the freezer to cool them off) I tear up. I especially get emotional when people ask us about the fertility procedure we had done... on the flip side, I've found that I get angry quicker than ever. (You thought it couldn't be done!) The dog made a poo poo in the shower and I fumed about it for an hour.
I also cried yesterday when I tried to shop for maternity clothes-- they are all over sized flannel pajamas (yes even for summer) or huge t-shirts. They are all designed to hide a pregnant belly. But the next day Scott was optimistic and took me shopping again... not 10 minutes from our house was an import store with Disney baby clothes and chic maternity clothes. I got a pair of capri jeans- you'd never know they are maternity clothes- and a breezy tank top. OOohh I love being pregnant!
Next week is another ultrasound and some screenings.... hopefully we'll be able to post the video when we get back.
