If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Our Little Avocado

16 Weeks Pregnant! Can you believe how big baby Hand is now?

How your baby's growing:
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer tot he front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. the patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will increase as your baby continues to develop.

How your life's changing:
The top of your uterus is about halfway between your pubic bone and your navel, and the round ligaments that support it are thickening and stretching as it grows. Soon you'll experience the most wonderful moments of pregnancy- feeling your baby move. While some women notice quickening as early as 16 weeks, many don't feel their baby move until about 18 weeks or more (If this is your first pregnancy, don't be too impatient- you may not be aware of your baby's movements until 20 weeks or so). -babycenter.com

These days .....
~ I've had some strange tummy goings-ons. Unexplained throwing up and 'potty troubles' has made me miss one class and two of Scott's basketball games. I'm reminded of how miserable the 'morning sickness phase' was.

~I received two packages from both my Mommy and big sister Brigitte. (packages are like hugs wrapped in brown paper) I'm loving the face creams and Bath and Body works lotion and make- ups from my mom (among a lot of other things) and the vitamins that nurse Briggie sent. I'm relieved to be getting my full dose of Folic Acid now as well as all my Omega Fatty Acids (3,6, and 9) Brigitte also sent me a baby scrap book- I can't WAIT to get started!!!

~I'm getting more and more psyched about shooting for a natural birth. I'm daily researching things about pregnancy and childbirth... I'm researching any kind of child birth classes that can be found on the Internet. Suggestions? I have found that when people try to talk me out of going for natural childbirth, it makes me want to do it even more! I've got a weird brain.

~My belly is looking more 'peach like' than ever- complete with blonde fuzz to go with the bump. I'm ready to Nair the fuzz if it decides to get any darker! haha

~I'm almost finished with Shepherding a Child's Heart and getting ready to start Gospel Powered Parenting. I've always thought I would have the know-all when it came to child raising.... yeah I was pretty much way off course. Thanks to Pastor Jeff for the recommendations!

~I love being pregnant!!

bah. haha.

when i was pregnant with my girl- i craved fruits and veggies and salad dressing, sauces with a "bite" and lemons. i'd seriously sit there and cut up a lemon and suck on each piece during lunch.

with my boy- i craved sweets like nobody's business. in fact, because of my pregnancy with him i STILL have to have something sweet every day.

-you go on with your bad self and yo' natural child-birthin' self. more power to the mommies who do that- you are stronger than i'll ever be!! you can do it!

-read BabyWise- fantastic book on getting your baby to be on a routine/sleep schedule. from an author from the Family, talks about how our Dad is a Dad of order and how we should structure our lives and teach that to our babies very early. take it with a grain of salt, add/take away things and do whats best for your baby and you guys. i'd read it like a month before you're due and skim over highlighted sections when the baby is born!

I so wish i could see you- i told todd all i want to do is come see you and touch your tummy :) i love you best friend.
