Our four year anniversary is just around the corner!! In honor of that, I'd like to post some of my favorite memories with Scott.
When we first met: (this is my version. You'll see that Scott's version is different, but I promise it's not true)
We first met at Providence BC in Raleigh. Scott and I were both newcomers to the college outreach ministry, and happened to be joining on the same night. Of course the newcomers had to stand up and introduce themselves and there he was.... all 6"2 of him- wide shoulders, that bushy blond hair and boyish smile!
I was sitting with BFF Emily in the back row, and as usual we were in our own little world making jokes ("FISHY WAKE UP!") and I have her as my witness that Scott, who was sitting near the first row, purposefully and on several occasions turned around just to check me out and toss me that grin. Ask her, it's true. If you ask Scott, he'll say that I was acting up in the back of the room just to get his attention. (Ok, it's a little true.)
So during that meeting, I joined the prayer team Scott joined the international students ministry. As soon as my group finished their meeting and prayer, I slowly made my way over to where Scott's team was still praying and I pretended to strike up a conversation with a girl near them just to have an excuse to wait around. (sorry I used you... whatever your name was. I was hunting bigger game hee hee)
I had brilliantly positioned myself, because he came right up and introduced himself- we didn't say much except "My name is Christine/ My name is Scott, oh you go to Southeastern, too? Well, see you on Sunday!"
After that we saw each other a few times on Sunday mornings and I FINALLY got him to ask for my phone number after a game of football at Milbrook Park. A trip to Durham Bulls Stadium, some tennis games and fishing trips, and late night phone conversations...and the rest is history. We began dating August 4 2005 and were married exactly 366 days later on August 5 2006!!
