I was surprised that my post about Marital Bickering didn't get any comments. I realized I was going to friends for answers, when I need not look further than my own copy of the Word of God. It is sufficient for you and I are and we are privileged to have it, when many all over the world don't have a copy in their own language.
The Lord broke my heart this morning as I searched Proverbs.
A wifes' quarreling is a continual dripping of rain... a prudent wife is from the Lord. (Prov 19:13-14)
The beginning of strife is like letting out water, so quit before the quarrel breaks out. (Prov 17:14)
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body. (Prov 16:24)
Better is a dry morsel with quiet than a house full of feasting with strife. (Prov 17:1)
A continual dripping on a rainy day and a quarrelsome wife are alike; to restrain her is to restrain the wind or to grasp oil in one's right hand. (Prov 27: 15-16)
An excellent wife, who can find?
She is far more precious than jewels.
The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands.
...
Strength and dignity are her clothing and she laughs at the time to come.
She opens her mouth and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
Scott, I cannot do right by you of my own power, and I'm sorry I've been trying so long to do so. Thank you for your patience with my while I labor to tame my tongue and try to make this house a place of rest for us. I love you!
