If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Our Rite of Passage

You know how in life there's a 'rite of passage' for every season? Like puberty, geometry class and marriage....
Well, this first apartment of ours (in Asia) has been a 'rite of passage' and it's coming to an end.

The journey to move off-campus has been a trial by fire! We first had to get permission from the school (which they dragged their feet to do, but eventually agreed) and then we began having troubles with our new landlady right away.... although I can't blame her, because we immediately began changing a ton of things. She'll see soon that we're only making it beautiful, not messing it up.
The first order of business....... let me show you our current apartment so you can rejoice with us that we're moving soon.

This is our bedroom before we re-arranged everything. This bed was so dusty, so we switched it with the bed in the other room, we also moved a desk to the end of the bed to have something to put the TV on. The floor is concrete... and impossible to get clean.

This is my favorite... the bathroom. There is toilet, and the mat you see is where you stand to take a shower. The thing that prompted us to move the most is that the drain stopped working, so we have to scoop out the water when you are done showering or it spills into the hall way!!
The kitchen isn't too bad at all- just needed a good cleaning and a new coat of paint and some shelves for storage. We also bought a little counter so I could have more room to cook and clean.

And here's the living room with a little office of to the side, it's not too bad either, except for the green/blue furniture and concrete floor. It's small, so when we have friends over we squeeze onto the big couch. This picture was taken the first night we came... suitcases had just made it into the house!
Overall it was livable, but the stress from trying to keep a concrete apartment clean and comfortable was too much.
