If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Some sugar for all these lemons....

"I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High." Psalm 9:1-2
The past few days things haven't been going the way we want them to at all. I find myself slipping into self-pity and even wishing I could come home...but all these things we're going through come with the territory of being a traveling fool!
Still, it doesn't hurt for me to take time and try to sweeten up my situation! Here I'm having an attitude check and thought of ways to be thankful for the things that sometimes vex me.
1. Cooking takes all day because I have to do it from scratch, but at least I know that what I'm eating is fresh and usually healthy because I can control what goes in!
2. We have to walk everywhere... but it gives Scott and I a lot of time to just chit chat, plus our legs are much stronger here!
3. We're misunderstood by the locals; but when we go to explain ourselves, we usually get to explain the Reason for our joy.
4. People think we're rich, so they often try to over charge us. But the other day we were ordering a plain sliding glass door from a friend who only overcharged a little, and then I met his TWO children (which isn't allowed here). The government fined him the equivalent of $1500 for their second child... and I told Scott that I don't appreciate being bamboozled, but their situation still tugs on my heart strings as they will be paying for that second child for the rest of their life.
5. People point and stare at us. (I got no sugar for that lemon yet...) haha
6. When the sun is out, the weather is unbelievable, but when it's cold, it's FREEZING! But, stores close a little earlier when it's cold, and friends don't feel like hanging out, so it usually means turning in early with some hot cocoa and snuggling under a blanket while watching Heroes, 24 or Criminal Minds (good shows) I love to snuggle.
7. Doctors No-speaka-English. So when I get a little sick, it's Dr. Scott to the rescue with tea, a band aid and a sudoku puzzle. ( We're saving a ton on medical bills)
8. We are the only foreigners here in Boone, so we have to be everything to each other (spouse, friend, counselor, punching bag ha!) . We've gotten closer and closer and been forced to be more and more selfless to make this trip work. I've never been so in love with my husband.
9. The food here gives us a few tummy troubles, but it's SOO YUMMY. I'd eat it even if we lived in America.
10. We really miss our families... but I bet when we come home in 2 1/2 years we will treasure every moment, especially with our 3 nephews who'll be born soon.
