If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Three weeks old

Joelle is 3 weeks old today! I never intended to start a week-by-week thing here, but I guess it's a little left-over habit from the pregnancy blogging.

Three whole weeks! I'm already feeling like she's been in my life forever.

I feel like the camera never captures the true color of her eyes, but here was an attempt.

She's still so tiny- only the extra-small fuzzibunz cloth diaper fits her... but it's still swallows her up!

Scott carried her while we walked around the mall last night! I feel like if those two get any cuter together I just might bust.

gotta have at least one black and white shot....

This girl is the queen of funny faces. She's always cracking us up and keeps us guessing at what's going on in that head! She was checking out her stroller, I think she likes it!
noteworthy things at three weeks:

Joelle is looking at us in our eyes for long periods of time, and oh how I love it!

She is also smiling at us. MELT my ever-loving HEART!

She's also holding up her head longer and longer and is very curious and alert after she eats.

She can "pbbbttthhh" (blow raspberries) good, too. My favorite is when she does it and she's got milk all over her lips.... its a mess.

I have been doing something quite strange this week. Every night during her "long" stretch (3-4 hours) I dream that I've gotten her out of the crib and am nursing her as I'm sleeping. I'll begin to wake up and think "Oh! yay! I don't have to get up because I already fed her!" but then realize that Joelle is not in the bed with me, and that I did NOT nurse her yet. So I go back to sleep.

Well, one night, I guess I was sleep walking or something because I woke up standing at Joelle's crib. She was unswaddled and I had gotten ready to nurse, turned on the lamp and already had my nursing chair ready with the pillows etc etc etc. I realized what was happening and frantically looked at the clock and - yep, I'd woken Joelle up 2 hours earlier than I was supposed to.

eh, so much for my 4 hours of sleep.

I then blamed Scott for letting me sleep walk...but he didn't get mad. the next day he told me he wouldn't hold me accountable to things I'd said while sleep walking.

So this happen es quite often- I wake up without the alarm and without looking at the clock and get ready to feed her. Scott is able to stop me every once in a while and tell me to go back to sleep.

Other than that, life with Joelle is smooth sailing and crazy joyful.

I can't imagine life without her!!!
